From June 8 to 12, 2026, Ms. Phan Thi Truong Huong and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hai, members of the PGS Van Du Coordination Board, attended a Training of Trainers (TOT) workshop on Organic Agriculture and Participatory Guarantee Systems (PGS). The event was held under the framework of the Forest and Farm Facility (FFF) programme, funded by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
During the five-day course, participants were equipped with comprehensive knowledge of organic and ecological agriculture, basic standards of the Vietnam Organic Agriculture Association, soil and nutrient management, biodiversity conservation, pest control, compost production, botanical preparations, and circular farming practices. Additionally, the modules on the Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) deepened their understanding of operational principles, internal monitoring, and the role of local communities in quality control.
Delivered through a Training of Trainers (TOT) methodology, the workshop combined theoretical instruction with practical application and communication skills training. This enables participants to effectively pass on their expertise and provide guidance to local farmer groups and communities.
The training enhances the capacity of PGS Van Du members while building a solid framework to drive local organic production forward. Currently, Project AIN8748 is supporting the Minh Thanh Cooperative in Van Du Commune to implement organic farming models, including cucumber, rice, poultry, and beekeeping. The insights and practical experience gained from the workshop will assist the cooperative in progressively improving production quality, strengthening organic management standards, and developing sustainable, climate-resilient agricultural models.
