Study on strengthening institutional sustainability of FFD work in Vietnam
The primary objective of this study is to assess the current institutional capacity, sustainability, and effectiveness of FFD’s partnerships and projects in Vietnam. This study aims to provide strategic recommendations for strengthening local institutions to ensure the long-term sustainability of FFD’s interventions. Specifically, the study will:
- Evaluate the current capacity and performance of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance, provincial cooperative alliances, and cooperatives engaged in FFD’s projects. This assessment should also include a comparison of the capacity of other farmers’ organizations, including Vietnam Forest Owner Association (VIFORA), Vietnam Farmers Union (VNFU), and other similar organizations, to identify potential for future partnerships.
- Evaluate FFD’s work in Vietnam by assessing:
- How well it aligns with the needs of smallholders, ensuring that project objectives are in line with both local community priorities and the strategic direction of the government.
- The effectiveness of FFD’s partnerships with local institutions, including both national and provincial cooperative alliances, as well as relevant government agencies.
- Key challenges and opportunities for enhancing the institutional sustainability of FFD’s work
- Propose strategies and provide a clear roadmap to strengthen the long-term capacity of these institutions to independently manage and scale FFD’s initiatives beyond the project’s lifecycle.
